About SharkOnTheStreet
The expressive avenues of the internet are in crisis. The social networks are dominated by a new influencer class. The media platforms censor and suppress formal discourse among consumers, confining engagement to the reactive and shallow. Platforms designed for higher thinking have abdicated their founding premises, drowning us in artificially generated content. A newfound culture of sensationalism has created a virus of corrupt absolutists that have been sent forth to co-opt any surviving counter-cultures. False narratives echo off every corner, regurgitated by the masses. The Resistance is powerless! Communication has fallen to the lowest common denominator. We are be dragged down with it.
“And then one day, the happy answer came to me, my friends: there was no country for people like me! And that was the moment I decided… to build one.” — Andrew Ryan, Bioshock
Following Andrew Ryan’s sentiment in the quote above, I have given up on curtailing myself to fit the mediums available for my expression. I have decided to build something of my own.
At SharkOnTheStreet I am striving for the following:
- Elevated Discourse – one sided as it may be
- Originality – genuinely organic output
- Professionalism – I want to be able to proudly sign my name on this
At my core, I am an equities investor.
I studied Business Economics at the University of California, Riverside, receiving my Bachelors of Arts in 2021. While there I learned the fundamentals of accounting, received an introduction to modern financial theory, and most importantly, discovered the value of self-directed learning. When my education was limited by the curriculum, I looked beyond the classroom and read everything I could on business, finance, and personal development
Outside of University, I have furthered my education through various formal means, most notably:
- Harvard Business School Online – Certificate in Leading With Finance
- Wharton Online – Certificate in Asset & Portfolio Management
- Wall Street Prep – Financial and Valuation Modeling Program
- Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) – Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst Program
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) – Passed the Level 1 Exam of the CFA Program
In terms of less formal continuing education: I read heavily, invest in the stock market, and enjoy listening to long-form content featuring notable speakers.
With all of this learning, I believe that I have received something of value to offer. If that is true, I can only capitalize on it so much alone. In essence, the value generated in outperforming the market is exponentially greater when managing the great sum of the public’s capital, than it is when managing one’s personal portfolio. I am not a financial advisor and do not manage the wealth of others, but I hope you find value in what I have to say here.
Welcome to my blog,
